Zune Software Customizer 3.1.0
Sorry for the huge delay. As some of you know I went on a long trip to Italy and have been MIA since. Well I got engaged on my trip and have been pretty busy with all the stuff that comes along with that since. Not to mention the fact that my Zune is currently out of commission, I am receiving USB Device Not Recognized errors. This led to me having less interest in putting out an update. Anyways on to the stuff you care about, a version of the Customizer that works with the new Zune Software (ie version 3.1. In case you missed the note from the last post I have adopted the Zune Software’s version numbering, so the first two #’s will correspond with the Zune Software version number):
Changelog:
- 3.1.0
- Changes:
- Added a option to set the Pink Color value and made the defaults for the DarkZune Theme and the ZSM Dark Theme to suit each theme.
-
Created some images to better suit the Dark Themes:
- Brand Tag (ie the stupid box up by the top)
- Default Profile Image
- Slider images
- Info Bubbles (for example see the MixView when you mouseover one of the artists)
- Now Playing Images updated for new version
- Dark Zune Theme Search images updated
- Left Arrow image in the settings menu
- Changes:
If you are a first time user I’d recommend going to the projects page where you can read all about the Zune Software Customizer: Zune Software Customizer Project Page.
If you aren’t a first time user you can use the following link which will always link to the latest release: Zune Software Customizer Latest Version Direct Link.
UPDATE: So far three bugs have been found, none of which are critical, but I’ll probably release a updated exe sometime this weekend. The first is the text under the custom color sliders doesn’t update. The second is that the MarketplacePageTitle Custom Color doesn’t appear to be updating correctly. The last is that the installer on the first page says “This will install Zune Software Customizer 2.5″ instead of 3.1.0, oops.

the download link is not 3.1..it is still 2.5…
You must not be using the correct link. Please use the link in the post, ie http://www.mjefferson.net/uploads/2008/12/03/zune-software-customizer-310/zunesoftwarecustomizer.exe
To verify you’ve downloaded the right exe, after clicking next once on the installer you should see version notes and it should have 3.1.0 at the top. If you see that you have the right installer and it does work for the newest version of the software. Please follow the installation instructions if you are having difficulties.
Looks like some other font colors are broken. Just a couple I noticed, I didn’t try every one: ListItemSelectedBackground and ListItemBackground.
Hi, I helped with a 2.5 bug a while back.
Since 3.1 is out I’ve been thinking about changing my theme, so I checked back here.
Everything appears in order except for a few fonts here and there, which I don’t mind because I use only basic color settings so I can see the letters against my custom backgrounds.
3.1 has been quirky though feature-packed release. I had trouble getting the device recognized through wireless. Before that, the software installation failed due to the inaccessibility of a registry entry. I would try completely uninstalling everything, especially the drivers, and reinstall using the complete package from microsoft.com, not the partial update package from zune.net. If you receive errors, try going to the directory of your OS in the package, x86 or x64 and run the .msi directly instead of the launcher. This way I was able to skip through errors and the software works fine despite them.
Any update/fix for the broken commands?
M.
Just wanted to say thanks for your work with the Zune customizer. It’s nice to see someone take the initiative on customization software for Zune and I appreciate that you’ve updated your app to make it usable with the new software. Take care and keep up the good work.
have u updated the MarketplacePageTitle Custom Color yet?
thanks.
I posted on zunescene forums (which are down atm it looks like) and mentioned that I got a chance to work on it last weekend finally. I got all of the broken colors fixed along with some other bug fixes, but I am implementing some other features so it’s not quite done yet. I hope to have it released by sunday or monday.
hey love the zcustomiser! fantastic job! i was just wondering if ther was any way for me to change the colour of the rythmn lights at the bottom of the zune player when songs play? i saw that u changed them to blue in a dark zune theme. anyway fantastic work.
A few requests:
1. Can you make the properties of the custom themes (zsm and darkzune.com) carry over to the custom colors category, so we can make edits to it?
2. Make the option to save our custom color sets?
3. Take a few images of the Zune program and label them according to the color editor and post it on this site? it would save a lot of guessing time and is a lot better than a sentence telling us what it is.
1. You can already do this, just click one of the custom themes (zsm and darkzune.com) and then change the colors you want without clicking the custom color theme.
2. Save as in how? I mean it saves so it will load the next time you run the software, it saves so if the zune software updates all you need to do is install the new ZSC and it’ll be loaded. Or are you talking about exporting your settings so you can share it with others?
3. We’ll see.
1. ah thanks i got it
2. lets say i have a custom theme set up to my liking (perhaps with a corresponding image) and i want to change my custom colors for another background. If i decided to go back to the old color scheme and pic, a save and load feature would be useful for me, and yes sharing with others would be really interesting.
HEy man it took me a couple times to work it out, I had to back and forth in your conversation with Locke a couple times… But this tweak is awesome thanks alot
great work!
but have you updated the MarketplacePageTitle and the slider colors yet?
if you have, can you please tell me where to download it?
thankyou!
x
Please see the comments above you, I have fixed the MarketplacePageTitle (not yet released), I’m not sure what you mean about the slider colors. When a new version is available you’ll see a new post don’t worry.
thanks love the program! great work!
but i have one question for you. How do you change the equalizer color on the bottom? I changed it to blue somehow, but have no idea, how to change it again.
That changes with the Dark Zune Theme, switch to the ZSM Dark Theme or if you are familiar with resource hacking you can change the image it uses.
thanks appreciate it!
i cant get it to work i download it and install ti and save it in programs/zune and when i click install it just flashes real quick. then i open up zune software and theres nothing different (fyi im running 32 bit vista)
Please read the instructions posted in the projects section if you are having trouble. It sounds like a) you didn’t run it as an administrator and b) you haven’t downloaded the customizer since 3.1.0 because the newest version should remain open until you press a button after launching it, no more flashing really quickly and just closing.
Got your email, glad you got it working.
I am using the DarkZune.com theme, and under the social tab, I can’t see any text inside of the zune cards. (the zune tag/ plays) Anyway to fix that?
Thanks
Looks like something I would need to fix in the next version (no idea when that will be though, got a lot going on).
Ok i have Vista and whenever i right clicked the installer bar, but whenever i went into Properties it didnt say compatability it just had the “general” tab and there was nothing for me to click..could someoen please help me get through this..i feel really stupid for not getting this..
the exe file you download from this site, right click that and you should have a compatibility tab. If not I’m not entirely sure, you could try just running the installer and seeing if it will work.
